It’s beginning to feel a lot like Winter here in Asheville, North Carolina

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Winter here in Asheville, North Carolina and Broker Asheville could not be more excited! We love this time of year in Western North Carolina. Here are some of our favorite Holiday activities to do in and around our community.
Holiday Shopping:
We love to support our local artist and shops because that is one of the things that makes Asheville so unique. You will find Jeff and Leah Stewart doing their holiday shopping at some of their favorite locally owned stores like Malaprops– their Son’s love the children’s selection. Dancing Bear Toys is another hot spot for holiday gifts. The expert staff always make it easy; “We just tell them the age of our nieces and nephews and they point us the right direction to sustain our prized positions as ‘Coolest Aunt and Uncle’”.
If you missed the Big Crafty you can still get items from the 180 hand-selected artists at Horse and Hero, it is a great way to get into the holiday spirit and one of Leah’s favorite spots.
Seasonal Cheer:
Joanna Baker, one of our amazing Buyers’ Specialist is all about Traditions! These are events she and her family do year after year. “They won’t disappoint!” Joanna and the entire Broker Asheville team recommends taking in the Winter Lights as the NC Arboretum. Make sure to purchase your tickets in advance. The holiday fun is open now thru January 1, 2017, 6PM – 10PM.  Fun for all ages.  Great way to get outside in the winter.  Make sure to bring extra money for the s’mores and hot cocoa.

If you are one for a holiday classic show check out “A Christmas Carol at Flat Rock Playhouse” -Charles Dickens’ classic tale put on by Flat Rock Playhouse from now thru December 17.
Mark Sossoman and Bret Frk, two of our Buyers’ Specialist, recommend taking in Biltmore by candlelight. Biltmore Candlelight Christmas Evenings offer a warm welcome to the Holiday Season.
You will find Leigh Smith and her family taking their annual photo with Santa in Biltmore’s Antler Village.  It’s the classic Christmas moment you never outgrow, and one your children will talk about forever and ever.
Hannah Alexander and Alyson Clark love taking their friends and out of town guest to see the elaborate gingerbread house creations at the Omni Grove Park’s 24th Annual National Gingerbread House Competition. The spa is a great place to detox from the holiday rush or enjoy and hot drink by the fireplace.
Broker Asheville is sponsoring Historic Montford Holiday Tour of Homes.  This event is December 10 and is a great way to explore eclectic architecture that has been lovingly restored or carefully constructed to reflect the neighborhood’s historic past.
The Holiday Season is a time of year where we reflect on all that we have to be thankful for…
One of the ways that Broker Asheville gives back is to donate to our favorite local charities. This year Jeff started a new tradition with his boys of sponsor a child in need this Holiday. Jeff used Youth Villages for this effort while Alyson Clark uses ABCCM’s Steadfast House child sponsor program to help provide Holiday cheer.
When the holidays roll around, Keller Williams’ agents forgo their finest holiday apparel. Instead, hundreds gather at Highland Brewing for the annual Fashion Victims’ Ball—Asheville’s best showing of tacky holiday outfits, eighties prom dresses, and outrageous thrift store finds. Proceeds benefit local nonprofits selected by participating agents.
The Broker Asheville Team had a ball, and we did look fantastically terrible if we do say so ourselves. But more importantly, we were thrilled to be a part of this local effort to generate over $40,000. This year we’ve decided to spread the love around town to our team’s favorite nonprofits and charities.
We love where we live and can’t think of a better way than to share that love than by giving back!
